In an effort to expand teen services, Ramsey County Library is proud to debut video games for check out. A 2008 survey by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) found that teens would come to the library more often if they offered more teen materials.
Video games are a popular way to attract teens (and adults), while helping to promote information literacy and build developmental assets. Video games encourage creative expression and promote literary activities like reading, writing and creating content about and around the game.
You can request your favorite Wii, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 games at any Ramsey County Library. Multiple copies are available for free checkout or browse the rental copies, available on a first come, first serve basis at the libraries in Maplewood, Roseville and Shoreview. Taxpayer’s money was not used for this collection. If you do not have a Ramsey County Library card, you may bring in your library system’s card to be scanned in at any of the six Ramsey County Library locations for full access.
